A special congratulations goes out this week to our "Oak Park Essay Writing Contest" winners!

The writing contest is sponsored by the Ethnic Advisory Commission of Oak Park, as well as several local businesses from around our city!  Below, you will see a list of the winners' names, along with what prizes they each took home for their efforts.  You will also find three attached .pdf's where you can read each winner's essay, along with a photo taken of the winners, the commission members, as well as City Council & Mayor from the January 16, 2012 council meeting.

Electronics/Appliance Recycling:

Statewide Recycling and Recovery will be in the parking lot to collect these items.  List of acceptable items can be found on the "Kennedy Elementary Garage Sale" facebook page or by going here: http://www.kennedygoinggreen.org/  JFK gets 65% of net proceeds from this collection.

Native Plant Sale:

Pre-order plants during this sale and they will be delivered in late May.

Applications will be accepted Monday, January 3 through Thursday, March 29, 2012 for summer employment.

The Recreation Department will be hiring for the following positions:

- Lifeguards

- Day Camp Counselors

- Score Keepers

Applications may be obtained at the Oak Park Community Center, or online at http://www.ci.oak-park.mi.us

Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be eligible to work as a Camp Counselor and 15 years old to work at the outdoor pool - all interested lifeguards must have lifeguard certification.
